Abstract:
Provided are a sheet manufacturing method and a processing device with which it is possible to impart greater stretchability to a base material sheet. The sheet manufacturing method is provided with: a conveying step of conveying a base material sheet (2); and a processing step of rotationally driving a pair of processing rolls (12, 14) arranged to sandwich a conveyance path (3) on which the base material sheet (2) is conveyed, such that irregular portions (13, 15) formed along respective outer peripheral faces (12s, 14s) of the processing rolls (12, 14) engage with each other at an interval to extend the base material sheet (2) when the base material sheet (2) passes between the processing rolls (12, 14). In the conveying step, the base material sheet (2) is conveyed such that: the base material sheet (2) is in contact with and along the outer peripheral face (12s) of one of the processing rolls (12) immediately prior to passing between the processing rolls (12, 14); and the tension (T1) in the conveyance direction applied to the base material sheet (2) immediately prior to reaching the outer peripheral face (12s) of the one of the processing rolls (12) is less than 10% of a breaking load of the base material sheet (2) in the conveyance direction prior to processing.
