Abstract:
According to the present invention, even when a main battery has deteriorated or has failed, a shift position is switched into a predetermined shift range without requiring, as a prerequisite, the presence of an auxiliary battery. This shift-by-wire control device is provided with a first determination unit, a second determination unit, a third determination unit, and a signal output unit. The first determination unit determines the presence/absence of an instruction to request an engine stop. The second determination unit determines whether or not a shift position set by a shift actuator is in a predetermined shift range. The third determination unit determines the presence/absence of a defect of a battery. In the case where the presence of the instruction is determined, the shift position is determined to be not in a predetermined position, and the presence of a defect of the battery is determined, the signal output unit outputs, to the shift actuator, a shift-forcing signal for setting the shift position to the predetermined shift range, and subsequently, outputs an engine stopping signal to the engine.
