Abstract:
This shift-by-wire system is provided with an actuator (30), a detent plate (52), a detent spring (55), a control unit (13), and a display device (47). The control unit has a first position learning unit, a second position learning unit, and a power-source-on discerning unit. In cases where a vehicle power source is turned on and is discerned by the power-source-on discerning unit to be on after an outage: when the display device displays an N range, and a target range determination unit has determined that an R range is a target range, the display device continues to display the N range, and while the display device is displaying the N range, either a first reference position is learned by the first position learning unit or a second reference position is learned by the second position learning unit; and when the display device displays the R range, and the target range determination unit has determined that the N range is the target range, the display device displays the N range, and after the display device has displayed the N range, either the first reference position is learned by the first position learning unit or the second reference position is learned by the second position learning unit.
