Abstract:
Provided is a sign display member with which it is possible to prevent counterfeiting of specific information created using an electronic watermark pattern by making it difficult to read said information. This sign display member is equipped with: a sign display part 3 which is formed on a base plate 2 using a background pattern 6 formed by indentations 5 created through laser irradiation engraving; an identification mark 9 in the form of indentations 8 that are created through overwrite-laser irradiation engraving performed on the background pattern 6 and that have a depth greater than that of the indentations 5 of the background pattern 6; and a hidden mark 11 that is recognized through a recognition mode different from that for the identification mark 9 and that is created in the form of indentations 10 that have a depth greater than the depth of the background pattern 6 and that are created through overwrite-laser irradiation engraving performed at a site different from the site where the overwrite engraving was performed for the identification mark 9 in the background pattern 6.
