Description:
SLOW CLOSING MECHANISM DEVELOPED FOR TOILET COVERS

Subject of the Invention

The invention relates to a mechanism developed for slow closing of the toilet covers.

State of the Art

While being closed, the toilet covers move quickly under the effect of the gravity, and the quick closing of the toiler covers, in addition to generating an annoying noise, leads to fractures in the covers as a result of the impact. In order to avoid such problems, it is necessary for a user to hold the cover and close the same slowly. However, holding a cover while closing the same is not preferable, since it is not appropriate in terms of hygiene.

In order to provide a solution to the mentioned problems, the covers are enabled to perform slow closing movement by means of the mechanisms according to the state of the art disposed in the cover hinges. In this way, the closing movement of the cover is slowed down in the desired manner without any external intervention.

The most commonly employed method according to the state of the art involves injecting the liquids or oils with viscous character to the damper mechanisms and slowing down the closing movement of the toilet covers due to the movement of such fluids.

The publication no. CN206151356 discloses the slowing of the closing movement of the cover by the use of a damping oil in the cover hinge system.

The publication no. CN201814497 is another solution according to the state of the art disclosing again the slowing of the closing movement of the cover by the use of a damping oil in the cover hinge system.

The publication no. CN201963100 utilizes a damping oil to provide the slow close of a toilet cover, while the publication no. CN203122267 discloses a mechanism comprising a shaft hub, two blades, an outer shell, an o-ring and a pressing lid. The degree of sealing between the blades and the shaft hub and the degree of sealing between the shaft hub and the outer shell are controlled by setting the thickness of the adjustment plate, whereby it becomes possible to achieve greater extent of control over the descending torque through the adjustment of the flow rate of the damping oil during the closing.

However, because the problem of leakage develops in the course of time during the use of liquids or oils that exhibit a damping and slowing down effect in the existing systems, the effectiveness of the fluids used is lost.

In the system according to the invention, the slow close of the toilet cover is achieved through the use of magnetic members, without using any liquid or oil. Thus, the toilet covers are enabled to perform slow closing action, while the possibility of use for longer time is also provided since the use of a fluid is not required.

Detailed Description of the Invention The invention relates to a mechanism developed for slow closing of the toilet covers. The mechanism according to the invention in a state prior to assembly can be seen in Figure 2. The mechanism according to the invention comprises at least one main body (1), at least rotor (4) with a threaded section (41) thereon, at least one second magnetic member (2), at least one first magnetic member (3) and the connection members.

The main body (1) comprises on its inner surface at least two protrusions (11) as can be seen in Figure 3. The mechanism in the assembled state can be seen in Figure 1. The rotor (4) is fixed via its outer body (43) to at least one hinge body (7) on the toilet cover assembly for securing said cover assembly on the toilet bowl surface and to at least one connection body (9) where the pin (8) on the hinge body (7) is also positioned. The rotor (4) comprises at least one threaded section (41) extending into the main body (1). The first magnetic member (3) is engaged on the threaded section (41) on the rotor (4) by means of at least one hole on the first magnetic member (31) and is secured in at least one slot (42) on the rotor (4).

In an alternative embodiment of the invention, said first magnetic member (3) is secured in said slot (42) via the adhesive bonding method.

The first magnetic member (3) is secured in the slot (42) on the rotor (4) in such a way that it is prevented from rotating.

At least one second magnetic member (2) is positioned on the threaded section (41) on the rotor (4) via at least one hole ) on the second magnetic member (21) similarly positioned on said second magnetic member (2). The main body (1) comprises in its interior portion at least two protrusions (11) shown in Figure 3, on which said second magnetic member (2) is to be positioned. The second magnetic member (2) comprises thereon the channels (22) in which said protrusions (11) are to fit. Said protrusions (11) fit in the channels (22) on the second magnetic member (2), and in this way, the second magnetic member (2) becomes secured inside the main body (1), thereby being prevented from rotating along with the rotational movement of the cover.

After positioning the first magnetic member (3) and the second magnetic member (2), at least one first connection member (5) and at least one second connection member (6) are fixed on the threaded section (41) on the rotor (4).

The first magnetic member (3) and the second magnetic member (2) are preferably positioned in a way that they contact one another.

The first magnetic member (3) and the second magnetic member (2) are positioned such that a force of attraction develops between the same; i.e. they are positioned such that their opposite poles face one another. Said manner of positioning is shown in Figure 4. As a result, the magnetic field generated by the attraction force imparted by the first magnetic member (3) and the second magnetic member (2) on one another as well as the frictional force generated act against the force providing the rotational movement of the cover to thus apply a counter action to said rotational movement of the cover, thereby resulting in a slowing down effect on the rotational movement.

It is possible within the scope of the invention to position the second magnetic member (2) included in the mechanism in any desired number and size. In case more than one second magnetic member (2) is positioned in the slow close mechanism, they are also positioned such that a force of attraction develops between the same; i.e. they are positioned such that their opposite poles face one another, as can be seen in Figure 4.

It is also possible within the scope of the invention to use any desired number and size of first magnetic member (3) included in the mechanism. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said first magnetic member (3) and/or second magnetic member (2) are each a magnet.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said first connection member (5) is a washer.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said second connection member (6) is a nut.

Owing to the mechanism developed within the scope of the invention, the toilet covers are enabled to perform a slow closing movement, thereby the noise generated by the toilet covers during the rapid closing action and the possible fractures in the cover is prevented.
