A smart city life service system, which relates to the field of smart life services. The smart city life service system comprises function modules (4) for satisfying life, work and leisure activities of people; a control center (1) for storing and allocating the function modules (4); an application area (6) for placing and using the function modules (4); a self-propelled robot platform (5); and a user control end for controlling the selection and placement of the function modules (4), wherein the control center (1) and the application area (6) are provided with transfer mechanisms (7) that are capable of transferring the function modules (4) to the self-propelled robot platform (5), and the self-propelled robot platform (5) has an automatic driving function. Further provided is a method for the smart city life service system, the method comprising the following steps: S1, logging in, and sending a demand; S2, acquiring the demand, and performing a delivery; S3, performing reception and using; and S4, returning for maintenance. By means of the technical solution, the space utilization rate is increased, the cost caused by space transformation is reduced, and the life quality of users is improved.
