A smart home system and a control method thereof, the method comprising: providing a smart home system, and establishing a back-end database (S1); receiving in real time identity information of a user currently outside the house, and a gesture command issued by same (S2); querying the backend database, determining whether same are consistent with gesture commands and identity information of users inside the house stored in the backend database and, if so, then opening the house door.
