Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a space sensing technique for sensing entry of a sensing subject into a predetermined space. To achieve the foregoing, one space sensing system that is representative of the present invention is provided with a range image sensor unit, a sensing surface setting unit, a space sensing unit, and an output unit. The range image sensor unit generates a range image that includes depth information with regard to an imaging area that includes a sensing space. The sensing surface setting unit stores spatial location information in a three-dimensional space as pertains to a predetermined sensing surface in the sensing space. The space sensing unit senses "a sensing subject entering from the sensing surface" by sorting the range images on the basis of the spatial location information of the sensing surface. The output unit outputs sensing information with regard to the sensing subject sensed at the space sensing unit.
