Abstract:
A steering apparatus 100 is provided with: a turning shaft 55 that can move in the vehicle width direction; a pinion shaft 21 that meshes with the turning shaft 55; and a first housing 52 that houses the turning shaft 55 and the pinion shaft 21. An inner peripheral surface 52I of the first housing 52 faces the turning shaft 55 and has an inclined portion 52IT where the inner diameter thereof sequentially changes. The inclined portion 52IT is at least formed lower than a meshed portion G, the meshed portion G being defined as the site where teeth 55T of the turning shaft 55 and teeth 24 of the pinion shaft 21 mesh together.
