Abstract:

A stereo camera which is capable of simultaneously acquiring two wide-angle images and two telephoto images, and which, particularly when acquiring the two telephoto images, can reliably capture a main subject on the optical axis of two telephoto optical systems, and a stereo camera control method are provided. A first wide-angle image and a second wide-angle image, and a first telephoto image and a second telephoto image are acquired simultaneously from a first imaging unit 11L and a second imaging unit 11R. In particular, the optical axes of the wide-angle optical system and the telephoto optical system, which configure the first imaging optical system 12L, coincide, and the second imaging optical system is configured similarly, so it is possible to position the main subject in a central position of the first telephoto image and the second telephoto image by independently controlling pan and tilt, on the basis of the first wide-angle image and the second wide-angle image, for the first imaging unit 11L and the second imaging unit 11R so as to capture the main subject on the optical axes of both the first imaging optical system and the second imaging optical system.
