Provided are an improved method and device for sterilizing a group of goods, such as a group of caps, while conveying the same.　This device for sterilizing goods, constituting the group of goods, while conveying the same in the direction in which the goods are lined up, comprises: a conveyance path by which the goods can be moved; a sterilizing medium supply part capable of supplying a sterilizing medium to goods on at least a portion of the conveyance path; a first conveyance switching part capable of switching a conveyance state of the goods between moving and stopped at an upstream end of a first segment of the conveyance path; a second conveyance switching part capable of switching the conveyance state of the goods between moving and stopped at a downstream end of the first segment; and a control part capable of controlling the respective operations of the first conveyance switching part and the second conveyance switching part. The control part is capable of implementing first control in which goods are retained on the first segment for the duration of at least a first processing period, as a result of: a unit number of goods being received on the first segment due to the first conveyance switching part switching the conveyance state between moving and stopped; and the conveyance state being kept as stopped by the second conveyance switching part.
