Abstract:
A stile structure for an extension ladder includes a pair of abreast stiles, i.e. a front stile (1) and a rear stile (2), which are in the form of hollow box-section integral metal tubes. The wall of the front stile (1) extends backward to form an integral cranked flange (11), similarly, that of the rear stile (2) extends forward to form an integral cranked flange (12) for engagement with the former. The front stile (1) longitudinally engages the rear stile (2) by respective flanges (11,12), so as to form a stile structure with the stiles longitudinally slidable and transversely located relative to each other. The structure can save materialand reduce cost, and enhance the strength of joint by connecting treads (31,32) to both side walls of the stiles (1,2).
