Provided is a suturing device that can easily and accurately form a knot or a seam by means of mechanical action that is based on a simple operation. The present invention includes: a needle 30 that holds a first string-shaped member L1 and that is capable of reciprocal movement in a prescribed direction; a shuttle 26 that has a holding part 62, which holds a second string-shaped member L2, that has a first hook-shaped end part 64 and a second hook-shaped end part 66 that are provided on either side of the holding part 62, and that can rotate in both directions around a line (a center axis line C1) that is parallel to the direction of the reciprocal movement of the needle 30. As a result of having the first hook-shaped end part 64 and the second hook-shaped end part 66 that are provided on either side of the holding part 62 and of being able to rotate in both directions around the line (the center axis line C1) that is parallel to the direction of the reciprocal movement of the needle 30, the shuttle 26 sequentially passes the holding part 62 from both directions through a loop LP that is formed by crossing of the needle 30 and can thereby make the loop LP and the second string-shaped member L2 that is held by the holding part 62 cross each other.
