A switching converter (200) and a low voltage startup circuit (210) thereof. The low voltage startup circuit (210) comprises a comparator (212) and a substrate voltage control module (211). The comparator (212) is used to compare an input voltage (Vin) with a reference voltage (V1) so as to obtain a voltage detection signal (VA) according to a comparison result. The substrate voltage control module (211) is used to adjust a substrate voltage of a main switching transistor (Mn) according to the voltage detection signal (VA). When the voltage detection signal (VA) indicates that the input voltage (Vin) is less than/equal to the reference voltage (V1), the substrate voltage control module (211) increases the substrate voltage of the main switching transistor (Mn) and reduces an ON threshold of the main switching transistor (Mn), such that the main switching transistor (Mn) can be turned on normally at a low input voltage (Vin), thereby enhancing startup performance of the switching converter (200) at a low voltage.
