Abstract:
A system for generating a polygonal partially coherent vortex beam and a method. The system comprises a computer as well as a laser (1), a collimating and beam expanding element (2), a first lens (3), a beam scattering element (4), a second lens (5), a Gaussian filter (6), a spatial light modulator (7), and a third lens (8) all arranged in sequence along an optical path, the spatial light modulator (7) and the computer are connected, and the computer is used for loading a hologram of an anomalous exponential vortex beam onto the spatial light modulator (7). The system for generating a polygonal partially coherent vortex beam and the method are able to flexibly adjust a geometric structure of a partially coherent vortex beam in real time, a polygonal partially coherent vortex beam can be generated in a simple and convenient manner, and the present invention is of considerable value with respect to application in the field of microparticle manipulation. Further, an elliptical, triangular, quadrilateral, or pentagonal light intensity distribution can be achieved by means of adjusting values of an exponential factor and a helical factor. The light intensity distribution has a greater degree of freedom of adjustment compared to a traditional partially coherent vortex beam, and relatively high energy is retained.
