Abstract:
The invention relates to a timing system for measuring the running time of a runner (2), comprising two signal generators for detecting the presence of the runner on a line (4.3) crossing the course, said generators having a light-beam source and a light-beam receiver and the two signal generators lying perpendicularly one beneath the other and interacting with two reflectors (10) lying one beneath the other, in order to generate a presence signal when the runner crosses the start or finish line. The two signal generators can be attached to a revolving or pivotal unit (17) such that they can lie selectively horizontally or perpendicularly to one another. Various courses can be established by the appropriate configuration of a base station (9).
