Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2019/236283
Kind Code:
A4
Abstract:
A method including authorizing a user to access a dispensing unit upon receipt of a medication request, is provided. The dispensing unit comprises a storage location with one or more door enclosure storing at least one container. The method also includes providing a visual indicator to the user for a selected container in the storage location with one or more door enclosure, the selected container comprising a medication associated with the medication request, and unlocking the selected container for the user by wirelessly actuating a latch for a lid in the selected container from a mat that is communicatively coupled with the dispensing unit. The method also includes locking the selected container when the user verifies a transaction comprising the medication request, and updating a record and a medication inventory in a remote server based on the transaction. A storage location with one or more door enclosure and a container used in the above method are also provided.

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:

1. A method, comprising:

authorizing a user to access a dispensing unit upon receipt of a medication request, wherein the dispensing unit comprises a storage location with one or more door enclosures;

providing a visual indicator in a display of a selected container stored in the storage location with one or more door enclosures, the selected container comprising a medication associated with the medication request;

receiving the selected container on a surface of an electronic mat configured to recognize the selected container and to unlock a lid of the selected container upon recognition;

unlocking the lid of the selected container for the user by wirelessly actuating a latch of the lid of the selected container based on a transmission of a command from a the mat to tire selected container; verifying a transaction comprising the medication request; and

updating a record and a medication inventory in a remote server based on the transaction

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising indicating to the user a selected storage location with one or more door enclosure associated with the medication request, in the dispensing unit.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a list for the user, the list comprising one or more medications in a selected storage location with one or more door enclosure that are indicated in tire medication request.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein unlocking the selected container comprises recognizing, with the electronic mat, the selected container.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic mat forms an inner surface of the storage location with one or more door enclosures.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising wirelessly providing power to the selected container from the electronic mat, wherein the selected container includes electronic components, including a latch of the lid, that are configured to become fully functional when placed over the electronic mat, wherein the electronic mat powers and operates the latch.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the electronic mat is located on a bottom surface of a drawer in the storage location with one or more door enclosures, and wherein unlocking the selected container for the user comprises wirelessly providing, from an antenna in the electronic mat, a wireless signal to unlock the selected container.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

displaying an alert to a user when a medication content of the selected container is not verified by the remote server;

preventing access to the medication content to an unauthorized user; and

receiving an input from the user to access the selected container.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising updating the visual indicator in the display of the selected container according to the record and the medication inventory in the remote server.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a medication content of the selected container when a user has verified a transaction information displayed in the visual indicator.

11. (Withdrawn) A device, comprising:

a surface configured to receive a mobile smart container/device configured to store medications to be dispensed to a patient;

a charging device configured to wirelessly provide power to the mobile smart container/device; an antenna configured to receive an identification signal from the mobile smart container/device; a processor configured to determine a medication content of the mobile smart container/device; and a communications module configured to update a medication inventory in a centralized pharmacy server based on the medication content of the mobile smart container/device.

12. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 1 1, further configured to communicate with a mobile, self-powered smart container/device configured to communicate with the device when the mobile, self- powered smart container/device is within a communication range of the communications module.

13. (Withdrawal) The device of claim 11, wherein the mobile smart container/device is a container comprising a lid and a latching mechanism configured to be actuated wirelessly when the mobile smart container/device is placed on the surface.

14. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 1 1, further comprising a sensor to determine a physical property of the mobile smart container/device, wTierein the processor is further configured to determine the medication content of the mobile smart container/device using the physical property.

15. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 11, wherein the charging device comprises at least one of an inductively charging device, a near-field electromagnetic charging device, a far-fie!d

electromagnetic charging device, a resonant electromagnetic charging device, and an optical charging device.

16. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 11, wherein the charging device comprises a sensor configured to determine an optimal position and alignment of the mobile smart container/device to wirelessly provide the power to the mobile smart container/device.

17. (Withdrawn) A device, comprising:

an enclosure to store at least one container having an identification tag, wherein said enclosure can be in an open or a closed position;

an electronically actuated latch;

32 an antenna configured to scan for the identification tag in the enclosure when the enclosure is the closed position;

a processor, configured to control the antenna and to process information received in the antenna; and

a communications module to update a database in a remote server based on a content of the at least one container and processed by the processor.

18. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 17, wherein the antenna is a radio-frequency antenna and the identification tag is an active radio-frequency identification tag emitting a beacon signal.

19. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 17, wherein the enclosure and the lid are configured to confine an electromagnetic radiation inside the device when the lid is closed.

2.0. (Withdrawn) The device of claim 17, wherein the antenna is configured to receive a content information from the container, and the processor is further configured to verify the content information with the database in the remote server.
