The present invention provides a system, for washing an activated carbon layer in an adsorption basin, comprising: an adsorption basin accommodating therein an activated carbon layer for filtering water; a sample collecting apparatus for collecting some of the water contained above the activated carbon layer inside the adsorption basin; a particle shape analyzing apparatus for measuring the size of granular activated carbon included in the water collected by the sample collecting apparatus; and a control unit for calculating the expansion rate of the activated carbon layer on the basis of the measured size of the granular activated carbon, and adjusting the intensity for washing the activated carbon layer on the basis of the calculated expansion rate. The expansion rate of the activated carbon layer is calculated by expansion rate (%) of activated carbon layer = (expansion height/activate carbon first height) × 100, wherein the height from the bottom end of the activated carbon layer accommodated inside the adsorption basin to the top end of the activated carbon layer in a water filtering process is activated carbon first height, and the height from the bottom end of the activated carbon layer to the top end of the activated carbon layer in a reverse washing process is activated carbon second height.
