Disclosed in the present invention are a target locating method and apparatus, the target locating method acquiring a digital broadcast message sent by a base station at a current target location; calculating a distance between the current target location and the base station according to said digital broadcast message and a first pre-determined rule; calculating location coordinates of the current target location according to the digital broadcast message, the distance between the current target location and the base station, and a pre-determined algorithm, and locating the current target location according to said location coordinates. By this method, the present invention, by means of obtaining message data of the digital broadcast message sent by the base station and calculating the distance between the obtained target location and the base station, then calculates two-dimensional location coordinates of the target location according to said distance and the digital broadcast message, and locates the target location according to said two-dimensional location coordinates. Thus, locating a target location is completed only using a single base station, avoiding the problem of easy interference caused by using navigation satellites.
