Abstract:
A purpose of the present invention is to provide a thickener which is suitable for use as a thickener for adhesives and which, when used as a thickener for adhesives, especially cyanoacrylate-based adhesives, makes the adhesives have excellent long-term storage stability. The thickener includes a methacrylic resin having an Mw of 85,000-1,500,000. When the 25°C viscosity of an ethyl cyanoacrylate solution of the methacrylic resin is expressed by ƞ1 and the 25°C viscosity of the solution which has been allowed to stand at 60°C for 48 hours and then cooled to 25°C is expressed by ƞ2, then 1.0≤ƞ2/ƞ1≤5.0 is satisfied (the solution has a methacrylic resin concentration of 20, 10, or 7 mass% depending on the Mw of the methacrylic resin).
