Abstract:
A thin-film electroluminescent material comprising an alkaline earth thiogallate represented by the following empirical formula: (M1S)a(Ga2S3)b:RE, (wherein M1 represents Sr or Ba; RE represents a lanthanid element; and a and b represent each an integer, provided a is not equal to b) or an alkaline earth thioaluminate represented by the following empirical formula: (M2S)c(Al2S3)d:RE (wherein M2 represents Ca, Sr or Ba; RE represents a lanthanid element; and c and d represent integers which may be the same of different); and a thin-film electroluminescent element containing the above material as the luminescent layer.
