Abstract:
A pressurized gas for conveying a looper thread is generated by a gas supply pump which is operated by power obtained by switching the power of a sewing-machine motor, which drives a stitch forming device, to the gas supply pump, and the looper thread is threaded through loopers by one-touch operation.
A threading device adapted for use in a sewing machine and conveying a thread by means of gas, comprising: a looper thread introduction mechanism (110) into which a looper thread guided to loopers (7, 8, 9) is inserted; a hollow, looper thread guide (130) extending from the looper thread introduction mechanism to looper thread inlets (7a, 8a, 9a) and having looper thread guide outlets (7d, 8d, 9d); a gas supply pump (41) for threading the looper thread by conveying the looper thread by gas from a looper thread introduction region through the hollow, looper thread guide to looper thread-point outlets (7b, 8b, 9b); a clutch (60) which, in stitch forming operation, transmits the power of the sewing-machine motor (M) to a drive shaft (5) for driving a stitch forming device (30) including the loopers or which, in looper thread threading operation, transmits the power of the sewing-machine motor (M) to the gas supply pump; and a mechanism (90) for switching between looper thread threading operation and stitch forming operation, the mechanism (90) switching the clutch in such a manner that, in the looper thread threading operation, the clutch interrupts the transmission of the power to the stitch forming device and transmits the power to the gas supply pump and that, in the stitch forming operation, the clutch transmits the power to the stitch forming device and interrupts the transmission of the power to the gas supply pump.
