In a system that performs time synchronization processing, if a point in time that is significant for the system is crossed when time synchronization is being performed, there is a danger that the system may be significantly influenced. The present invention relates to equipment for transmitting time information and a device that uses time information for time synchronization. If the device is unable to communicate with the equipment for transmitting time information, time passes, and the device is then able to communicate with the equipment again, when the device carries out time synchronization processing on the basis of the time information from the equipment for sending time information, the device confirms the time required for the time synchronization processing, and if a point in time that is important for the system will be crossed while time synchronization processing is being performed, the device produces an external notification, thereby making the stopping of the operation of the device and other necessary processing possible.
