Abstract:
[Problem] To make it possible to reduce the time synchronization error resulting from uplink/downlink asymmetry in a transmission channel, to improve wavelength band use efficiency and to reduce the number of transponders required. [Solution] An optical transmission device in each node simultaneously transmits a plurality of signals having different wavelengths over a transmission channel as delay measurement signals. An optical transmission device determines a delay value reflecting a propagation delay calculated on the basis of the arrival time differences for the plurality of wavelengths in the signals received from another node, and determines a wait time on the basis of the delay value and the propagation delay. The optical transmission device notifies the other node of the delay value. Each optical transmission device delays the signals received from the other node by the wait time, and outputs the signals. Each optical transmission device selects time information, delay measurement signals or communication information and generates a multiplexed intermittent optical signal. The reception side extracts a desired multiplexed signal from within the received intermittent optical signal.
