Abstract:
Provided is a torsional vibration damper for a rotating shaft with which torsional vibrations that occur in the rotating shaft can be damped well without the damper being installed directly on the rotating shaft that is being damped and with which reduced size and weight can be achieved. The damper comprises: a gear (3) that is connected to a load and formed along the circumferential direction of a main rotating shaft in which torsional vibrations occur; and an attendant rotating shaft (2), both ends of which are rotatably supported by bearings (5) so that the axis line runs parallel to the main rotating shaft (1), and in the circumferential direction of which the other gear (4) for engaging with gear (3) is formed. The bearings (5) are formed so as to be able to absorb radial direction vibrations of the attendant rotating shaft (2).
