Abstract:
This transmission device is provided with a first communication unit, a second communication unit, a detection unit, a control unit, and a selection unit. The first communication unit, when power is applied thereto, performs communication using a first path. The second communication unit, when power is applied thereto, performs communication using a second path. The detection unit detects a prognosis of failure. In the case where the detection unit has not yet detected a failure prognosis, the control unit refrains from applying power to the second communication unit. In the case where the detection unit has detected a failure prognosis, the control unit initiates supplying power to the second communication unit and also checks upon the normality of the second path prior to switching from the first path to the second path. In the case when the first communication unit and the second communication unit both have received signals, the selection unit makes a choice between the signal received by the first communication unit and the signal received by the second communication unit, and outputs the chosen signal.
