Abstract:
The present invention provides a transmission device in which one transmission member has a central axial line serving as a first axial line, the other transmission member can revolve around the first axial line while rotating about a second axial line decentered from the first axial line, and a speed change mechanism between the two transmission members has: one transmission groove that is provided in the one transmission member and that has an undulated annular shape having a center at the first axial line; another transmission groove that is provided in the other transmission member and that has an undulated annular shape having a center at the second axial line; and a plurality of rolling elements interposed at a plurality of intersections of the two transmission grooves. The two transmission grooves (21, 22) are formed of angular grooves having a U shape in transverse section. The rolling elements rolling in the angular grooves are formed of rollers extending between the two transmission grooves. In regions from contact sections (t) of the rollers (23) with the inner side surfaces of the transmission grooves to both end faces (f), the outer circumferential surfaces of the rollers have curved surfaces such that the outer diameters thereof smoothly decrease from outer edges of the contact sections towards both the end faces. In this manner, the thrust loading between the transmission grooves and the rolling elements during transmission is made to be zero or is reduced sufficiently, thus securing a space for installing a retainer between the two transmission members.
