Abstract:
A travel path correction device (100) comprises: a vehicle position detection unit (10) that detects the current position of a vehicle; a deviation amount calculation unit (40) that calculates the amount by which the current position of the vehicle deviates from a travel path; a vehicle speed detection unit (20) that detects the speed of the vehicle; a direction angle detection unit (30) that detects a direction angle at a point corresponding to the current position of the vehicle on the travel path; a target point setting unit (50) that sets a target point at a location on a curved section ahead of the current position of the vehicle on the travel path; and a path correction unit (60) that, when the deviation amount exceeds a threshold value while the vehicle is traveling at or above a predetermined vehicle speed, sets a starting-point direction angle to the direction angle at the point corresponding to the current position of the vehicle on the travel path, sets an ending-point direction angle to a direction angle at the target point, generates a corrected path that smoothly connects the current position of the vehicle to the target point with one or more clothoids, and replaces the section leading to the target point in the travel path with the corrected path, thus correcting the travel path.
