Title:
TURBINE WITH WIND OSCILLATING WINGS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2009/126055
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
For vertical support (1) are connected horizontal supports (2) carrying wings (3) that can oscillate around support (2) up-to limiters (5) with a spring (10). Each wing is balanced by a weight (6) thus enabling wings to lie on a horizontal plane. When wind blows, direction of wind is equal on both sides of vertical support (1). In horizontal position remain wings (3) when wind direction is down the wing surface in relation to bearings (4) of the wings. Wings (3) with opposite wind direction, pass into vertical position by moving upwards or downwards up-to the limiter (5) with spring (10), and pressure of wind occurs on the wing surface (3). This force rotates vertical support (1), wing (3) departs to another side and turns back into horizontal position, but the next wing gets into vertical position, etc. Vertical support (1) is connected with the axle of the electric energy generator (14).

Description:

TURBINE WITH WIND OSCILLATING WINGS

Technical field

The invention belongs to the field of technical solutions for the use of energy from recoverable energy sources for production of electric energy. The source of energy here is wind. According to the international classification of patents (IPC) the mark is... .

Background Art

High efficiency of the use of wind energy exists in windmills with generator on the same axle. However, the power of a single windmill is relatively small. More significant energy is obtainable by a larger number of windmills.

Disclosure of Invention

Turbine with wind oscillating wings consists of a vertical support that has function of an axle, for which horizontal wing supports are firmly fixed and are located in the same plane. Each wing on the support has bearings and is able to rotate in some measure around horizontal support, starting from horizontal plane up & down to 90 degrees. This is realized by placing limiters onto which the wings are striking. In absence of wind the wings lie on the horizontal plane because there is a mass in a form of a weight on another side of the horizontal support connected for the wing by a lever, thus centre of gravity of the wing-weight system is located below axis of the horizontal support. As a result - if by a short lasting force the wing is taken out of horizontal position, it will return to horizontal position. If there is wind, which mainly has horizontal direction, turbine rotation occurs. On both sides of vertical support, wind has the same direction but direction of wind is not the same for all wings. On one side of vertical support wind blows down the wings and they stay in horizontal position. On another side it is reversed. The wind force throws the wing out of horizontal position, the wings are positioned at an angle of 90 degrees and the entire surface to is exposed to the effect of wind force. Torque is created and it acts on vertical support producing turbine rotation. The wing changes position, passes to the other side where wind blows down the wing and turns it back to the horizontal balanced position. Now, this wing has no effect on the turbine torque. Direction of turbine rotation does not depend on direction of wind. It depends on the side of the horizontal support from which the wing has freedom of movement. This is achieved by placing limiters. Wings can be made of sheet metal as well as of canvas, because of lesser mass. It is possible to place a number of turbines one above another on-to a vertical support in order to obtain more power. On the vertical support of the turbine

system, the axle of electric energy generator is connected through a rotation speed reducer, if required. Wings are equipped by braking discs enabling the turbine to be stopped or to regulate the torque. Regulation of the torque can be effected also by moving wings in relation to the vertical support. At constant wind speed, removing wings from the vertical support decreases number of turbine rotation but increases the torque.

Brief Description of Drawings

Drawing 1 represents turbine with oscillating wings in a state of rest.

Drawing 2 represents position of turbine wings when wind direction is down the wing surface in relation to the wing bearing.

Drawing 3 represents position of turbine wings with wind directed on the width of the turbine wing the entire surface of the wing being exposed to the effect of wind.

Drawing 4 represents a number of turbines with wind oscillating wings; the turbines are depicted as rectangles on vertical support, which is connected with axle of electric power generator, and are positioned on the carrying support which is fixed to the ground.

Best Mode for Carrying Out of the Invention

Drawing 1 represents a turbine with wind oscillating wings. According to the idea of the invention, the turbine consists of a vertical support 1 with a function of turbine axle, for which are connected horizontal supports 2 carrying wings 3. Wings 3 have bearings 4 on a horizontal support 2 and can oscillate in both directions around the support 2 up-to the limiter 5 with spring 10 the role of which is to amortize impact of the wing 3. The wing 3 lies on the horizontal plane as it is connected by a lever 7 with weight 6, that way gravity would be directly under support 2, drawing 2. For the wings 3 are connected brake discs 8 with the hydraulic system 9 and, consequently, oscillation of the wings can be stopped by pressure on discs 8. Position of the limiter 5 in relation to wing 3 determines direction of turbine rotation 11.

According to idea of the invention, on both sides of the vertical support 1 wind has the same direction but wind direction 12 is not equal for all wings, drawings 2 and 3. On one side of the vertical support 1, wind 12 blows down the wing, drawing 2, and it remains in horizontal position. On another side it is opposite. Wind force 12 throws wing 3 out of horizontal balanced position, drawing 3, and places the wing 3 at an angle of ninety degrees in relation to direction of wind 12. Wing 3 lies on the limiter 5, that is, on a spring 10, and its entire surface is exposed to the effect of wind 12. Torque is created and, by acting on vertical support 1, brings about turbine rotation. Wing 3 changes position, passes to the opposite side of the vertical support 1, where wind 12 blows down the wing 3 turning it back into horizontal balanced position by relatively small force and this wing now practically does not have any effect on torque of the turbine. Direction of the turbine rotation 11 does not depend on direction of wind 12, because its direction is determined by position of limiter 5.

In order to realize approximately constant size of torque during action of wind, a large number of horizontal supports 2 carrying wings 3 is connected with vertical support 1. The vertical support 1 is coupled with the axle of electric power generator 14 with a rotation speed reducer.

According to the idea of the invention, higher energy is taken off wind if to the vertical support 1 is connected a number of turbines with oscillating wings 13, drawing 4. Energy is higher as well if carrying support 15, which is connected for the ground 16, lifts turbines 13 to a higher altitude, because wind speed is bigger there. Stability is achieved by ropes 17 tied to the ground and levers 18 with bearings 19 on vertical support 1.
