Abstract:
A dual-mode twisted-string actuator using a clutch is provided. A twisted-string actuator according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first actuator; a first coupler rotated by the first actuator; a shaft coupled to and interlocking with the first coupler; a second coupler selectively interlocking with the actuation of the first actuator and including multiple string reception parts; and multiple string members arranged to pass through the string reception parts of the second coupler, each of the string members being fixed to the first coupler at one end thereof and to a mover at the other end thereof. Therefore, the actuator enables miniaturization of a conventional large and heavy transmission system, thereby reducing the size and weight of the entire system.
