Abstract:
An ultrasonic object detection device applied to a vehicle that can open and close a rear door using an actuator, said ultrasonic object detection device being provided with: a transmission and reception unit that is disposed somewhere on the rear of the vehicle other than the rear door, transmits pulsed ultrasound as a transmission signal behind the vehicle, and receives reflected waves from an object as a reflection signal; a determination unit for using a threshold to determine whether there is an object within a prescribed range behind the vehicle on the basis of the reflection signal; and an open/closed state recognition unit for recognizing the open/closed state of the rear door. The ultrasonic object detection device is characterized in that if the open/closed state recognition unit recognizes that the rear door is being opened or closed, the threshold is changed in a direction that makes it more difficult for a determination to be made that there is an object.
