Abstract:
In order to improve the accuracy of displacement amount detection during ultrasound elastic modulus measurement and to thereby improve the reliability of elastic modulus measurement results, an ultrasound probe is caused to transmit push waves, and, after the transmission of the push waves, the ultrasound probe is caused to transmit detection waves that pass through a region of interest indicating an area to be analyzed of the subject. Ultrasound reflected from the region of interest in correspondence to the detection waves are received and converted into a reception signal using the ultrasound probe. With respect to each of a plurality of positions in the region of interest, phasing addition is performed to generate an acoustic line signal. From a plurality of positions in the region of interest, a plurality of target regions comprising observation points with relatively high signal quality of the corresponding acoustic line signals are extracted, and a target group including the plurality of target regions is set as the object of propagation analysis. On the basis of the acoustic line signal corresponding to each of a plurality of observation points included in the target group, mechanical characteristics of the subject in the region of interest are calculated.
