Background

[003] Undergarments are a type of clothing that are worn beneath other clothes. For example, underwear are worn under a pair of pants or trousers or shorts. Typically, undergarments are in direct contact with the skin of the human wearer.

[004] Undergarments may be worn to serve various purposes, for example: for keeping outer clothes from being soiled; for providing additional warmth or coverage for private parts or other body organs; for fashion purposes; or the like.

Summary

Detailed Description

[0012] The Applicants have realized that a waist region of underwear and under-garments may cause inconvenience to the wearer; may leave undesired pressure marks on the body of the wearer; may limit the wearer's ability to efficiently engage in certain types of sports or sporting activities; may create undesired friction with the skin of the wearer; and/or may be undesirably visible through a garment that is worn over the under-garment.

[0013] The Applicants have realized that there is a need for clothing articles, such as underwear, boxers, briefs, bra, brassiere, tops, legging, shirts, lady panties, women panties, lingerie, shaper, shaper garment, shaping garment, form-fitting garment, and other undergarments which do not include an elastic waist-band, yet haves the ability to stay-put and cling to the wearer's waist area, while encircling 360 degrees of a body organ of the wearer.

[0014] The discussion herein may relate, for demonstrative purposes, to underwear and/or to undergarments. However, the present invention may similarly comprise or provide, or may similarly be used in conjunction with, other suitable garments and/or undergarments, for example, boxers, briefs, shorts, sportswear, yoga pants, aerobic pants, training pants, lingerie, thongs, shaper, body-shaper, shaping garment, shaping undergarment, form-fitting undergarment, form-fitting garment, or the like.

[0015] In a demonstrative implementation, underwear may comprise a right-hip region to cover or to encircle the right hip of the wearer; a left -hip region to cover or to encircle the left hip of the wearer; a front-side genitalia region to cover the front-side genitalia of the wearer; a rear-side region to cover the rear side (e.g., buttocks) of the wearer; and a waist region to cover or to encircle the waist of the wearer.

[0016] The waist region of the underwear (or other garment) may not include any elastic ribbon(s), or may exclude any elastic ribbon(s), or may be elastic -free or elastic -ribbon free. Instead, the waist region may comprise two layers or three layers, or multiple layers, of fabric (e.g., each layer by itself being a non-elastic fabric).

[0017] For example, in a first set of implementations, the waist-region may comprise the fabric from which the underwear is made of; and a 360-degrees sticky ribbon (non-elastic) that encircles the waist. The ribbon is a generally circular ribbon, which encircles 360 degrees of the wearer (or of a particular body organ of the wearer). The ribbon is made of Lycra and/or other suitable materials, such as: Thermoplastic Polyure thane (TPU) film, elastin, elastin coated with adhesive film, elastin coated or sandwiched between two adhesive films, spandex material, latex material, a dual-layer of two of the above-mentioned materials, a triple- layer or a tri-layer of three of the above-mentioned materials, a "sandwich" structure in which one layer of the above-mentioned materials is "sandwiched" or surrounded between layers of a second material from the above-mentioned materials, or other suitable combination of the above-mentioned materials. Optionally, the ribbon is attached externally to the external side of the fabric, such that the ribbon does not touch the body of the wearer. Optionally, ultrasonic welding and/or ultrasonic cutting is used to connect the ribbon to the fabric. Optionally, the ribbon or the waist-region of the article may comprise an additive element, such as a logo or a brand-name or an ornamental element or an identification element or a decorative element, made of TPU or other suitable material(s), optionally cut and/or cut-through via precise and selective laser cutting and/or other cutting methods, and/or cut or produced by a Die Cut Machine and/or a Plotter machine.

[0020] In a second embodiment, the waist region may comprise: a fabric (e.g., cotton, or a blend or mix of cotton and polyester, or a blend or mix of cotton and other materials), to which a ribbon is internally glued or bonded or otherwise attached in a seam-less or seam-free or stitch-less connection mechanism. The ribbon is a generally circular ribbon, which encircles 360 degrees of the wearer. Optionally, the ribbon is attached internally to the internal side of the fabric, such that the ribbon touches the body of the wearer. Optionally, ultrasonic welding and/or ultrasonic cutting is used to connect the ribbon to the fabric.

[0021] In a third embodiment, the waist region may comprise a three-layer sandwich of materials: (A) a fabric (e.g., cotton, or a blend or mix of cotton and polyester, or a blend or mix of cotton and other materials), which touches the body of the wearer; (B) to which a ribbon is externally glued or bonded or otherwise attached in a seam-less or seam-free or stitch-less connection mechanism.; (C) covered externally by another fabric layer or fabric ribbon which is external. The ribbon is made of Lycra and/or other suitable materials, such as: Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) film, elastin, elastin coated with adhesive film, elastin coated or sandwiched between two adhesive films, spandex material, latex material, a dual-layer of two of the above-mentioned materials, a triple-layer or a tri-layer of three of the above-mentioned materials, a "sandwich" structure in which one layer of the above-mentioned materials is "sandwiched" or surrounded between layers of a second material from the above-mentioned materials, or other suitable combination of the above-mentioned materials. The intermediate ribbon does not touch the body of the wearer. Optionally, ultrasonic welding and/or ultrasonic cutting is used to connect the ribbon to the fabric.

The ribbon is made of Lycra and/or other suitable materials, such as: Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) film, elastin, elastin coated with adhesive film, elastin coated or sandwiched between two adhesive films, spandex material, latex material, a dual-layer of two of the above-mentioned materials, a triple-layer or a tri-layer of three of the above-mentioned materials, a "sandwich" structure in which one layer of the above-mentioned materials is "sandwiched" or surrounded between layers of a second material from the above-mentioned materials, or other suitable combination of the above-mentioned materials. The intermediate ribbon does not touch the body of the wearer. Optionally, ultrasonic welding and/or ultrasonic cutting is used to connect the ribbon to the fabric. [0023] Some embodiments of the present invention may utilize a glue or gluing or bonding, which may utilize or may comprise, for example: film adhesive , hot melt , spandex material bonded to film adhesive, spray adhesive, or any suitable kind of adhesive for bonding the waist fabric layers.

[0024] In any one of the above-mentioned embodiments, precise laser-cutting and/or ultrasonic cutting and/or die cutting may be utilized in order to cut particular holes and/or patterns, through only one of the fabric layers that encircle the waist (or the other body organ of the wearer); or through some (but not all) of the fabric layers that encircle the waist (or the other body organ of the wearer); or through all-but-one of the layers that encircle the waist (or the other body organ of the layer). This may allow, for example, inscription or engraving of a logo or slogan or brand-name or trade-mark, or pattern or decoration; particularly if two of the layers (e.g., fabric and ribbon) are implemented by using different colors or different shades of the same color, such that an internal color becomes visible due to the cutting of holes or patterns in the external layer, thereby showing a "masked" pattern or logo or decoration by means of such precise cutting through only one fabric layer (or through some of the fabric layers but not all of the fabric layers).

[0025] It is noted that such laser cutting or other masked effect or masked pattern, of the multiple layers of fabric, may be performed and/or featured not merely for ornamental purposes and/or not only as a decorative or fashion feature; but rather, may have a particular function or utility by itself, for example, identification of a maker or a producer of the undergarment, identification of the model or type or size or brand of the undergarment, efficient identification or engraving of other information or data (e.g., price, retail price, suggested price, size, washing instructions, clothes care instructions) in a manner that may obviate the need to use a price-tag or a product-tag or in a manner that enables to directly engrave into the product itself such data in a manner that remains with the product for long periods of time (e.g., months, years, or even permanently) in contrast with a product-tag which may be intentionally or inadvertently cut or removed from the product or which may otherwise fade over the years due to washing and drying.

[0026] Furthermore, the selective laser cutting of only one fabric layer out of multiple fabric layers at the waist area or waist band, and/or the selective laser cutting of only some but not all of the fabric layers at the waist area or waist band, generates or causes or creates a modified or a different modulus of elasticity or a different elasticity level in particular regions of the waistband or the waist region, and/or provides a desired pre-defined level of elasticity to the waistband or the waist-region in its entirety. [0027] For example, a first region or area or sub-region of the waist band, features the selective laser-cutting of only one fabric layer out of multiple fabric layers, and/or features the selective laser-cutting of only some but not all of the multiple fabric layer; thereby creating there a region having increased elasticity and/or increased flexibility, relative to other regions or areas or sub- regions that lack such laser-cutting at all, or that feature such laser-cutting at a smaller density.

The present invention thus comprises any suitable combination or the above-mentioned configurations, in order to achieve a particular, desired, level or modulus of elasticity and/or flexibility, or conversely, a desired level of rigidity and/or rigidness and/or form-fitting level and/or body-clinging level and/or body-support level.

[0032] Optionally, the fabric layer or fabric layers, that are immediately adjacent to and/or are immediately under or beneath, the fabric layer(s) that are laser-cut through, may have different color in order to emphasize the laser-cut holes or patterns and to better create an identification element of the clothing article. Accordingly, the elasticity of flexibility of sub-region 106C, is greater than the elasticity of flexibility of sub-region 106D. Furthermore, the elasticity or flexibility of each one of these sub-regions (106C, 106D), is greater than the elasticity or flexibility of other sub-region(s) of waist region 105 that lack any cut-through holes, such as the sub-region that exists to the left side of numeral 105 in the drawing.
