Description:
UNIVERSALLY APPLICABLE COVER FOR PRINTED MATTER

The invention relates to the stationery and namely to protective covers for printed matter and can be used as a protective cover for textbooks, books, copybooks and the like of different size.

The universally applicable cover [1] is known containing a sheeting and pockets, at that one of the pockets of the cover is much wider and the adhered layer with a protective stripe is applied on it for fixation of the cover. Besides, the universally applicable cover is put on a printed matter by inserting it into the cover, into the right and left pockets of the cover correspondingly, and by fixing it on the printed matter by folding the remaining excessive part of the bigger pocket onto the inner part of the cover and by sticking it after first removing the protective stripe from the adhered layer.

The disadvantage of this technical solution is inconvenience of its usage due to significantly increased thickness of the surface of the bigger pocket on the inner part of the covering and as a result - insufficient reliability of fixation of the folded part of the pocket due to frequent ungluing in the process of use that leads to fast run-out of the adhered layer.

The universally applicable cover [2] is known containing rectangular surface at the edges of which on the inner side the pockets of different depth are disposed, at that the right pocket is deeper and is not coincident with the right edge unlike the left pocket, and it is shifted from the right edge towards the vertical axis, at that the entry into the pocket faces outward to the right edge of the surface. This technical solution allows to adjust the dimensions of the cover depending on the size of the printed matter. However, this cover does not have reliable fixation on the printed matter due to that the folded right pocket at the end surface of the cover of the printed matter is arranged with doubled layer and this increased thickness together with specified depth of the pocket from the side of the vertical axis lead to the possibility of sliding off of the cover in the process of use that reduces its lifetime.

The nearest analogue of the applied technical solution is the universally applicable cover for printed matter [3] which consists of the sheeting and the pockets, one of the pockets has a through opening disposed along the end surface of the sheeting. Such the construction of the cover is simple to manufacture and allows to adjust the dimensions of the cover depending on the size of the printed matter. The disadvantage of this technical solution is insufficiently reliable fixation of the cover on the printed matter as in case of its usage on the thin printed matter inadvertent sliding off of the cover may occur that may lead to possible damage of the printed matter, reduce its lifetime as well as early run-out of the cover itself. The object of the present invention is providing of the universally applicable cover for printed matter in which by means of change of the cover construction the reliability of its fixation on the printed matter with the possibility of adjustment depending on the size of the printed matter is provided as well as increasing of the cover lifetime.

The indicated object is achieved by that in the known universally applicable cover for printed matter consisting of the sheeting and the pockets one of which is provided with the through opening disposed along the end surface of the sheeting according to the present invention the adhered layer with a protective stripe is applied on the pocket having the through opening, the adhered layer with a protective stripe is disposed on the outer side of the indicated pocket, at that the opening is the entry into the indicated pocket.

Preferable is the execution of the adhered layer in the view of the vertical continuous stripe or intermittent stripe.

Besides, the adhered layer is executed in the view of the stripes along the lower and upper edges of the pocket.

The presence of the through opening on one of the pockets, wherein the through opening is disposed along the end surface of the sheeting of the cover and which is the entry into this pocket allows to adjust the width size of the cover depending on the size of the printed matter till the full correspondence and provides convenience in use.

The presence of the adhered layer with a protective stripe disposed on the outer side of the pocket having the through opening allows to reliably fix the cover on the printed matter, at that due to that the adhered layer does not contact with the binding of the printed matter the possibility of damaging the printed matter is eliminated and the run-out of the adhered layer is reduced. At that such the execution allows to use the cover many times, for example, after replacement of the printed matter, that increases the lifetime of the cover.

The execution of the adhered layer in the view of the vertical continuous stripe or intermittent stripe provides the reliable fixation of the cover on the printed matter of any thickness, at that it allows to use for its production the materials of any kind, view, thickness, structure depending on the specific tasks of the producer.

The execution of the adhered layer in the view of the stripes disposed along the lower and upper edges of the pocket allows to reduce the materials consumption and at that it provides the reliable fixation of the cover on the printed matter with less thickness or dimensions, at that the possibility of usage of the thinner materials as the cover material is provided, such as for example, polypropylene film, polyethylene film or PVC film that are the most used and not expensive materials in this field. The invention is explained on the figures, where:

Fig. 1 represents the universally applicable cover for printed matter in the opened view (the adhered layer in the view of the vertical continuous stripe);

Fig. 2 represents the universally applicable cover for printed matter in the opened view (the adhered layer in the view of the vertical intermittent stripe);

Fig. 3 represents the universally applicable cover for printed matter in the opened view (the adhered layer in the view of the stripes disposed along the lower and upper edges of the pocket);

Fig. 4 represents the universally applicable cover for printed matter put on the book.

The cover contains the plane rectangular sheeting 1, the pocket 2 is disposed along the end surface of one of the sides of the sheeting, along the other end surface of the other side of the sheeting 1 the pocket 3 is disposed which is provided with the through opening 4 disposed along the end surface of the sheeting 1, at that the opening 4 is the entry into the pocket 3. On the outer side of the pocket 3 the adhered layer 5 with the protective stripe is disposed. At that the adhered layer 5 is executed in the view of the vertical continuous stripe (Fig. 1 ) or intermittent stripe (Fig. 2) or in the view of the stripes disposed along the lower and upper edges of the pocket (Fig. 3).

The pockets 2 and 3 are fixed at the upper and lower parts of the sheeting 1.

The cover can be manufactured by means of the known equipment from polypropylene film or other polymeric materials, for example, PVC, polyethylene, PVT with thickness of 150 to 250 microns. The material is cut in rectangular sheetings of the defined size. The pockets of the cover are formed by folding the sheeting 1 to the required width and fixed in the upper and lower parts of the sheeting using the known way, for example, by means of sealing by heated nichrome wire. On one of the pockets the thin layer of adhesive is applied, for example of rubber cement, forming the adhered layer 5 on the surface of the pocket, at that the adhered layer is disposed on the specific part of the surface of the pocket, for example, in the view of the vertical continuous stripe (Fig.1 ) or intermittent stripe (Fig. 2) or the stripes along the lower and upper edges of the pocket (Fig.3). Further, the adhered layer is covered by the protective layer which thereafter at usage can be easily separated from the adhered layer. Then the indicated pocket is cut along the end surface of the sheeting thereby forming the opening 4.

The universally applicable cover for printed matter is used by the following way.

The cover is put on a printed matter, for example, on a book. At that, the binding of the book 6 is inserted into the left pocket of the cover 2, then the right part of the sheeting is folded in such a way as to insert the right part of the book binding from the end surface of the cover into the opening 4 of the right pocket 3. Then the cover is moved to the iddle of the book binding as far as it will go till the size of the cover coincides with the size of the width of the book binding. Then while keeping together the right part of the book binding 6 and the right pocket 3 the protective stripe is removed from the adhered layer 5 and the cover is fixed on the book by fixing the inner side of the sheeting 1 of the cover with the right pocket 3. At that the adhered layer does not contact with the binding of the printed matter that allows to eliminate the possibility of damaging the printed matter and reduces the run-out of the adhered layer and allows to use the cover many times.

Thus, the cover is fixed firmly along the width of the printed matter.

The cover can be used many times on the printed matters of different size that make it to be universally applicable.

Thus, the applied invention provides reliable fixation on the printed matter, possibility of adjusting the cover depending on the size of the printed matter, increasing of the lifetime of the cover as well as of the printed matter.
