Abstract:

Disclosed is a method for generating an upgrade packet for software downloaded over the air, comprising: determining whether an old-version software packet has a file having a same file name as a file in a new-version software packet; if the file does not exist, determining whether the old-version software packet has a file having a file name similar to a name of a file in the new-version software packet; and if the similar file exists, generating a difference file by using the file in the old-version software packet and the file in the new-version software packet, and adding the difference file into the upgrade packet for the software downloaded over the air, and otherwise, adding the file in the new-version software packet into the upgrade packet for the software downloaded over the air. Further disclosed are a method, server, and mobile terminal for upgrading software downloaded over the air, which can reduce a size of an upgrade packet for the software downloaded over the air, and reduce traffic and time for downloading an upgrade packet for the software downloaded over the air.
