Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of betanidine and its derivatives, betalains and their derivatives, betalamic acid and its derivatives, including the spatial configurations thereof, for the production of a drug for the treatment, prevention, regulation and control of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, inflammatory infiltrate in liver, hepatic necrosis, fatty liver, alcoholic steatohepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis, necrosis, acute inflammatory infiltrate, chronic inflammatory infiltrate, mixed inflammatory infiltrate, non-alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic fatty liver, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis of the liver, ageing, fibrosis, brain edema, neuronal degeneration and pancreatitis; for the regulation of the mobilisation of intracellular lipids; for the treatment, prevention, regulation and control of inflammatory infiltrate in an autoimmune response, associated with an infection, in tumours, produced as a response to fatty acids and their derivatives, associated with a trauma, associated with a parasitic disease, associated with chronic degenerative diseases, produced by an immune response to a non-infectious antigen; for the modification of the intracellular lipid composition, for the protection of nucleic acids from damage, for the healing of wounds. Its effect consists in inhibiting the presence of inflammatory infiltrate, inhibiting necrosis and in modifying the predominance of the lipid vesicle type, following administration. The drug can contain one or more betalains and any of their derivatives and betalamic acid and any of its derivatives, either alone or in multiple combinations. In addition, the drug can contain a combination of other pharmaceutical products. The drug can be administered using an administration route. The drug, which contains a betalain, betalamic acid or a derivative of one of these types of compounds and is intended for the treatment, prevention, regulation and control of the above-mentioned ailments and the regulation and mobilisation of lipids, fatty acids and their derivatives, can be administered to any animal, including humans.
