Abstract:
When an internal combustion engine is stopped, or during startup thereof, a compression pressure is adjusted by means of a variable compression ratio mechanism (VCR), on the basis of a cylinder in a compression stroke. If the position of the piston in the cylinder in the compression stroke is on the compression top dead center side, a mechanical compression ratio is increased by the variable compression ratio mechanism (VCR), and if the position of the piston (01) in the cylinder in the compression stroke is on the intake bottom dead center side, the mechanical compression ratio is reduced by the variable compression ratio mechanism (VCR). By controlling the mechanical compression ratio by means of the variable compression ratio mechanism (VCR) on the basis of the crank angle of the cylinder in the compression stroke, the compression pressure of the cylinder in the compression stroke can be adjusted appropriately to stabilize the startup of the internal combustion engine, as a result making it possible to improve the startup performance of the internal combustion engine.
