Abstract:
A variable magnification optical system (ZL) includes the following, along the light axis and in order from the object side: a first lens group (G1) having a positive refractive power; a second lens group (G2) having a negative refractive power; a third lens group (G3) having a positive refractive power; a fourth lens group (G4) having a negative refractive power; and a fifth lens group (G5) having a positive refractive power. When magnification is varied from the wide angle end state to the telescopic end state, each lens group moves along the optical axis so that the spaces between the lens groups change.
The fifth lens group (G5) has at least one positive lens and one negative lens, and a prescribed conditional formula is satisfied.
