Abstract:
This variable-magnification optical system includes a first group for forming an intermediate image, and a plurality of variable-magnification groups which are disposed on an optical path further toward the image side than the intermediate image and that move during magnification variation. The first group includes a first mirror, the reflecting surface of which faces toward the object side, and a second mirror, the reflecting surface of which faces toward the image side. During magnification variation, the first mirror and the second mirror are immobile. When a light beam passing through the apexes of optical surfaces of the variable-magnification groups is defined as a reference light beam, the absolute value of the angle formed by the reference light beam and a line normal to the reflecting surface of the first mirror at the intersection point of the reference light ray and the reflecting surface of the first mirror is equal to or greater than 2 degrees.
