Abstract:
A vehicle control device (10) is equipped with: a first rapid deceleration determination means (a rotation rate of change determination unit (82), an ABS determination unit (83)) that determines whether a vehicle (1) has rapidly decelerated; and a second rapid deceleration determination means (a brake determination unit (81)) for which the time required to make a determination regarding rapid deceleration is shorter than for the first rapid deceleration determination means. In response to the speed of the vehicle (1) or the friction coefficient of the road surface, either the first rapid deceleration determination means or the second rapid deceleration determination means is used to determine rapid deceleration of the vehicle (1), with the second rapid deceleration determination means rather than the first rapid deceleration determination means being used to determine rapid deceleration when the vehicle speed or the friction coefficient of the road surface is in a low range. Thus, the optimal rapid deceleration determination means can be selected in response to the driving status, and the precision with which rapid deceleration is determined can be improved.
