Abstract:
This vehicle control system comprises: a recognition unit which recognizes one or more nearby vehicles in a second lane different from a first lane on which a host vehicle is present; an identification unit which derives an index value based on the probability that a nearby vehicle recognized by the recognition unit will cut in front of the host vehicle, and which identifies a nearby vehicle with a derived index value equal to or higher than a threshold value as a cut-in vehicle; and a travel control unit which decelerates the host vehicle in response to the presence of the cut-in vehicle identified by the identification unit, and which, when decelerating the host vehicle, determines the degree of change in the deceleration of the host vehicle on the basis of the index value of the relevant cut-in vehicle.
