Abstract:
A vehicle door latch device, wherein a door can be reliably opened by manually operating a door handle, and if the door handle becomes deformed in a collision, etc., the door is reliably prevented from opening. The vehicle door latch device is provided with: a latch 5 capable of engaging with a striker; a ratchet 6 for maintaining the door in a closed state by engaging with the latch 5; an immovable stopper 2b; a first lever 71 pivotally supported by a first shaft 91 and capable of pivoting towards a release direction from an initial position; a first spring 74 which biases the first lever 71 towards the initial position; a second lever 73 supported by a second shaft 72 at the first lever 71, capable of displacing to an initial position where abutting the immovable stopper 2b is not possible, and to a block position at which pivoting in the release direction of the first lever 71 is prevented, the block position being a position where abutting the immovable stopper 2b is possible; and a second spring 75 which biases the second lever 73 towards the initial position with a force greater than the biasing force of the first spring 74.
