Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a vehicle headlight offering improved visibility of an object on the road illuminated by headlight light from the host vehicle, while also maintaining efficiency of use of the light of the vehicle headlight. A vehicle headlight 1 having a headlight unit 4 that projects, forward, light B1 from a light source 9 and forms a light distribution pattern, wherein the vehicle headlight comprises: a polarized light generation unit 8 for generating first and second polarized light (B11, B12) of the light B1 coming from the light source 9; a first headlight unit 5 for displaying, forward, a main light distribution pattern (La1, Lb1) of the first polarized light B11; and a second-type headlight unit 6 for using a scanning mechanism 13 to scan with the second polarized light B12 and displaying, forward, an auxiliary light distribution pattern (La2, Lb2) for illuminating a narrower range than the main light distribution pattern (La1, Lb1).
