Abstract:
Provided are: a vibration damping device formed so that an elastic body connects an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, wherein residual strain remaining in the elastic body is suppressed; and a method for manufacturing the vibration damping device. A vibration damping device (1) is provided with an elastic body (4) for connecting an outer cylinder (2) and an inner cylinder (3). The outer cylinder (2) has a plurality of segments (21), and at least two segments (21) are arranged at positions where the at least two segments (21) compress the elastic body (4). An adhesion section (5) is provided between the inner cylinder (3), at least one segment (21), and the elastic body (4). A method for manufacturing the vibration damping device has a adhesion step in which the plurality of segments (21) are used and the elastic body 4 is adhered to at least two segments (21) from among the segments (21); and a mounting step in which, after the adhesion step, the segments (21) are mounted to the outer cylinder (2) so as to compress, inside the outer cylinder 2, the elastic body (4).
