Abstract:
A vibration wave motor that is characterized by comprising: a vibrator; a retention member that retains the vibrator; a contact body that moves relative to the vibrator; a guidance member that guides the contact body; and a pressure member that applies pressure to the retention member and the guidance member, wherein the contact body is guided by the guidance member, the retention member engages with the guidance member so as to regulate movement of the guidance member in the relative movement direction while allowing movement of the guidance member in the pressure application direction, an elastic body has a body section to which an electrical-mechanical energy conversion element is fixed and a plurality of extension sections respectively extending from a plurality of locations in the relative movement direction in the body section, the retention member has a plurality of protrusion sections respectively protruding from a plurality of locations in the relative movement direction, and the plurality of protrusion sections respectively contact the plurality of extension sections, while also contacting the body section.
