A virtual-image generating device according to the present invention is configured to be provided with: a converting unit that converts shape data representing the three-dimensional shape of an eyeglass lens into discrete mesh data in a prescribed format; a data capturing unit that captures the converted mesh data of the eyeglass lens into data of a virtual space divided in a mesh form in a prescribed format; a virtual-image generating unit that generates a virtual image of an object disposed in the virtual space, as viewed through an eyeglass lens based on the captured mesh data; a display control unit that causes a prescribed display unit to display the generated virtual image; and a modifying unit that modifies the mesh data of the eyeglass lens according to an instruction concerning the displayed virtual image. The virtual-image generating unit generates a virtual image of the object as viewed through an eyeglass lens based on the mesh data that has been modified by the modifying unit.
