Abstract:

The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a viscosity index improver composition which is capable of adequately adjusting the HTHS viscosity of a lubricating oil composition within the effective temperature range to a value in a lower range; and a lubricating oil composition that contains this viscosity index improver composition. A viscosity index improver composition according to the present invention is configured to contain a comb-shaped polymer (A) which contains a constituent unit derived from a macromonomer (α) and a constituent unit derived from a specific monomer (A1), said macromonomer (α) having a (meth)acryloyl group at one end, while having a constituent unit derived from a monomer (α1) that is selected from among butadiene and hydrogenated butadiene.
