Abstract:
Provided is a voltage regulator whereby it is possible, without requiring a phase correction circuit element with a large area, to precisely and stably control an output current to an overcurrent protection setting value. The voltage regulator comprises: a constant voltage control circuit, further comprising a first differential amplifier circuit which compares a first reference voltage with a feedback voltage, and an output transistor which is controlled by the output voltage of the first differential amplifier circuit; and an overcurrent protection circuit, further comprising a resistor for measuring the output current, a second differential amplifier circuit which measures the voltage difference across both terminals of the resistor, a comparator which compares the output voltage of the second differential amplifier circuit with a second reference voltage, and a switch which is controlled by a detection signal of the comparator. When an output current flows which is greater than or equal to the overcurrent protection setting value, the output current of the second differential amplifier circuit is inputted into the first differential amplifier circuit via the switch, and the control of the output amplifier is switched from the control by the constant voltage control circuit to the control by the overcurrent protection circuit.
