Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a waste disposal system and waste disposal method, capable of disposing of much waste, which may affect the environment, by burying waste, with loads on the environment minimized. [Solution] A waste disposal system (10) for disposing, into the abyssal ocean, of waste such as nuclear fuel waste discharged from nuclear power plants, contaminated solid waste from, for example, demolition of nuclear power plants, and a large amount of contaminated soil generated and a large amount of contaminated water continuously generated due to a nuclear power plant accident. The waste disposal system (10) comprises: a container (1) for accommodating waste; an arrangement part (12) for arranging the container (1) and set within an oceanic basin (11) of the abyssal ocean; and a carrying part (20) for carrying the container (1) from above the sea to the oceanic basin (11).
