Disclosed is a water-based polyvinylidene fluoride coating. The coating comprises the following components of raw materials in parts by weight: 40-60 parts of a modified polyvinylidene fluoride emulsion, 5-10 parts of an aqueous sodium alginate solution, 2-7 parts by weight of a curing agent, 15-35 parts of a pigment and a filler, 7-15 parts of an auxiliary, and 5-35 parts of a solvent, the modified polyvinylidene fluoride emulsion being subjected to graft modification with 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and oxyethylene methacrylate. The present invention selects the modified polyvinylidene fluoride emulsion grafted by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and oxyethylene methacrylate to cause the polyvinylidene fluoride resin to have hydrophilic side bonds, so that the resin matrix is modified to possess amphiphilicity from the strong hydrophobicity of a pure PVDF resin. Furthermore, the present invention uses the modified polyvinylidene fluoride emulsion as a main film-forming material, supplemented by the aqueous sodium alginate solution to further improve the water solubility of the resin system, thereby obtaining a water-based polyvinylidene fluoride coating with comprehensive performance comparable to that of existing solvent-based fluorocarbon coatings.
